Commonly known as Kauri, one of the largest and longest living trees in the world. Stout forest tree 30-60m tall when mature. Kauri’s slow growth rate makes it an appropriate and very special landscaping specimen for a native garden. Kauri prefer moist soil which does not dry out over summer, tolerating some wet ground. Requires a sheltered, relatively frost free site.

An attractive tree with glossy dark green leaves and a spreading canopy, grows to approximately 4-18m. Has unusual jet-black seeds and bright red fruit which attracts bees and birds.

Attractive tree with ‘marbled’ leaves with a juvenile form having brown tangled growth with small, rounded serrated leaves whilst the adult foliage is oval, mid-dark green with lighter green marbling. Smothered in tiny white flowers during summer followed by purple fruit. Prefers moist semi-shaded site. Approx 7m x 4m. Grows okay coastal.

Otherwise known as taupata, mirror bush or looking-glass bush. A shrub or small tree found in coastal situations, extremely tough and hardy plant. Often used as a hedge. Shiny- leaved coprosma with the ability to adapt to a variety of situations- small prostrate shrub or a tree of 6m or more. Flowers produced in spring and summer with orange berries.

Characterized by a distinct juvenile form with long, rigid, narrow, downward-pointing leaves which in the adult form give way to shorter, broader dark green leaves forming a round bushy head on the slender trunk.
