Commonly known as Kauri, one of the largest and longest living trees in the world. Stout forest tree 30-60m tall when mature. Kauri’s slow growth rate makes it an appropriate and very special landscaping specimen for a native garden. Kauri prefer moist soil which does not dry out over summer, tolerating some wet ground. Requires a sheltered, relatively frost free site.

Also known as jointed rush due to the grey-green leaves having brown markings or joints at various points along the length. OiOi means to ‘shake gently’ which is what the stems of this plant do in the wind. This is a native reed which is a great choice for wet or dry problem areas. Grows in full sun and prefers damp swampy areas, can also grow in water. Grows to height of 1m x width of 1.5m.
